Pressure Screen Drum – An Important Part of Pressure Screening Equipment

The pressure screen drum is a crucial component of pressure screening equipment. It is primarily used in pressure separation devices, where a certain pressure is applied to drive the material through the screen, achieving the screening and separation of materials. This process enables solid-liquid separation or solid particle classification.

The operation process is as follows. The material to be processed is conveyed through the feed inlet into the interior of the screen drum. Under the applied pressure, the material is separated by the screen into fine and coarse particles, which are discharged separately from the respective outlets. By adjusting the applied pressure and the screen aperture size, precise classification of the material can be achieved.

Features

  • Low maintenance costs. The main shaft uses an advanced mechanical seal system, which is not easily damaged.
  • Long service life. The stainless steel screen drum is corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant, providing a longer service life.
  • High screening efficiency. As the material enters the screen at a high pressure along the tangential direction, under the action of centrifugal force, qualified material quickly passes through the screen drum due to the pressure difference.
  • Clog-resistant. The material is evenly screened from top to bottom, and the V-shaped openings ensure the open area of the screen drum and prevent clogging, avoiding the high-density accumulation of sediments.

Category

Based on the screening direction of the material in the screen drum, pressure screen drums can be classified into inflow pressure screens and outflow pressure screens.

Outflow Pressure Screen
  • For an outflow pressure screen, the rotor is on the inside of the screen drum. The pulp first enters the inside of the screen drum, and under the action of the rotor, the good pulp moves to the outside of the screen drum.
  • The coating flows from the inside of the screen mesh into the screen drum and is then discharged through the screen slots.
  • The feed inlet is located inside the screen drum, while the screen mesh is on the periphery.
  • Suitable for coatings that are less powdery and have smaller particle sizes.
  • Widely used for screening coarse pulp, refined pulp, and pulp before the paper machine

Inflow Pressure Screen
  • For an inflow pressure screen, the rotor is on the outside of the screen drum. The pulp first enters the outside of the screen drum, and under the action of the rotor, the good pulp moves into the screen drum.
  • The coating flows from the outside of the screen mesh into the screen drum and is then discharged through the screen slots.
  • The feed inlet is located outside the screen drum, while the screen mesh is on the inside.
  • Suitable for coatings that are more powdery and have larger particle sizes.
  • Used for coarse screening, fine screening, and screening before the paper machine.
